February

Amanda turned 9 in February.  We had a fun birthday party planned on her birthday but the Thursday before, Daniel got sent home with a fever.  We thought he must have just eaten something bad at school as it hit so quickly after lunch.  That night he had a few red spots on his face.  Friday morning he was still running a fever with more red spots so we took him to the PA at the clinic since all of the regular doctors were out for the day.

Not sure what it was, the PA sent us to the hospital to run some blood work.  By that afternoon though Clay and I both knew it was Chickenpox.  And yes, he was immunized.

So we had to quickly try to get in touch with all the parents for Amanda's party and tell them we would reschedule it for a later date after we see if it spread to anyone else.

Amanda was pretty disappointed so I took her to the store to pick out a birthday cake for our family to enjoy. She really handled the disappointment pretty well.
And opening presents sure helps.--

About 3 weeks later when we felt pretty confident that we were in the all clear, she finally got her party.  And I made her the cake she wanted.

We had a fun painting party.  The girls had so much fun designing their own pots.

We did the party on a Friday when everyone was out of school but Clay and Daniel.  We had a fun pizza party for lunch.
And here's the inside of her 6 layer cake.  She had so much fun showing it off and it was fun to watch the girl's expressions when they saw it was a rainbow inside.
Then we turned on the Disney Dance Wii game and the girls had a ball.
Happy Birthday Amanda!  I'm so glad we got to celebrate twice this year.
