Monday and Tuesday we spent all day looking at houses with the kids. They watched videos and movies in the car as we had them take turns coming in to look at homes with us. Some that were completely vacant we allowed all of them to look at with us. It was an exhausting adventure for all of us. I think we reached a total of 26 homes in 2 days.
We found a few we were interested in, most that we considered were a little out of our price range but the sellers were "flexible." By the end of the first day I was getting a little worried about if we could find one that we could really afford. The army will be paying for all of Clay's tuition, fees, books, etc. and giving us a small stipend ($2000) to live off of each month. We really don't want to have to take out any more student loans than we have to as we still have a good chunk left from chiropractic school. I think I do frugal really well. :)
So the second day, I started getting a little nervous. I knew that if it was necessary for us to take one of these more expensive homes, the Lord would provide a way for us to be able to afford it somehow. It's happened before and we've made it this far.
Tuesday we found a few homes that were interesting. One had a small section of the roof torn off from the tornado. The owner had just been informed a few days before. Some just stunk horribly, which make a quick decision for me.
We looked at the second to last home for the day the realtor had planned. Honestly, it really stunk and I didn't consider it as one I was even interested in but it was priced lower than most of the ones we looked at. It had a few parts inside though where the drywall was coming off of the ceiling. We walked around the outside of the home to look at the roof when I noticed the one behind had a for sale sign.
I asked the agent if she knew anything about that home so she called the number on the sign and got permission to show it. It is a foreclosure and is in considerable condition. No smell, clean and was listed for $87,000. I was very excited as we walked in the door.
The kitchen--
Kitchen & dining room--Front room (we want to put an opening in the wall with the paneling to the dining room and remove all the paneling)--
Another view of the front room--
Bedroom #2 (upstairs)--
Master Bedroom (upstairs)--
Outside view (the home we were looking at is in the background)
Downstairs family room (needs ceiling and I would like carpet)
Bedroom #4 (downstairs--ceiling needed and new carpet stretched)--
Another view from outside--
Front of the house--
Hallway upstairs (has 2 large closets and we'll take paneling down)--
Back of the house--
Bedroom #3 upstairs--
It has a total of 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms upstairs. Downstairs are 2 more bedrooms (one has new carpet already stretched) and 2 more bathrooms to complete. One bathroom only needs a toilet put in and the other one needs a toilet and tiling done around the shower base.
We're very excited and went back and submitted an offer that night. We're getting inspections and stuff done and hoping to close on April 27th. We know the Lord led us to this home. It has a little work to do but we can easily do it and lots of potential. It will be almost double the size of the home that we are living in now--lots of room for visitors and on .39 acres. :)

HOORAY! That is fantastic news! What a track record for looking at house, out-of-state AND with the whole family. I'm way impressed and so thrilled you found one.
