Mandatory Fun

Thursday, September 1st, Clay's Regiment had their Regimental Mandatory Fun Day at BLORA.  Yep.  Mandatory.
So we took the kids out of school, loaded up and after his 9 am formation, headed to BLORA.  And sat in stop and go traffic for hours.  That's what happens when you have thousands that are required to be at one place that only has access from one road.

That part wasn't so fun.
And it was hot.
The suburban said it was 118 when we got in at the end.
We got there, ate, let the kids play in the water blow up things they had there and then headed down to see some of the vehicles like the ones they used on the deployment.

Here's Daniel by one--
 Amanda and Jonathan--
It was hot.  Christina was ready to go by this point (and so were many of the rest of us)--
 Clay and Samantha--
Then Clay helped Jonathan and Amanda climb up--

Samantha and Ethan weren't so sure--

He's such a good boy.  I love how he smiles whenever he notices the camera.
Daniel, figuring out how to get in to the driver's seat--

See how we sweat, just standing outside?  Will Fall ever come?
That night, Daniel had his first cub scout regatta.  It was nice to have Clay here to help with this project.--

Neither one of us had ever been to one of these before and weren't sure what to expect.  There were a lot of boys who were light headed that night.
